Final Typography (Hutana Font)

This is the final look of my font, and I decided to name it Hutana (originated from my family name). I was inspired by the previous existing font such as Bauhaus and Helvetica. I decided to just used circle shape, and created it really simple because I wanted to create something that reflect my simple, and calm personality. I also find that if I make really simple alphabets, with medium-bold thickness because I feel that these alphabets can be used more often than decorative fonts, both for headlines and body copy text.

Typography-Personal Font (Draft 3: Overall)

So, after I finished all 10 upper case letters, miniscule, numbers from 0-9 and the punctuation, I tried to wrote my my name and class using these fonts by freehand. After I finished it, I found something odd with the word 'Gittoes' and 'Hutana-', and I realized that the letter 't' had an imbalance proportion and doesn't go along with the other characters.

Right after that, I figured out that if I lower down the cross stroke of the 't' by 0.5 cm, the letter looks way more in appropriate proportion, hence when I put the new 't' along the 'Gittoes' and 'Hutana-' words, it correspond better with the other characters.

These are the numbers and punctuations I made using the circle shape (note: not all punctuation symbols necessarily use it as the guide).

Typography-Personal Font (Draft 3: Upper Case & Lower Case)

So as you can see above, these are the upper case and lower case of my alphabets, with a thicker width/stroke compared to my second drafts. The reason of it being changed this way is because I found that with a medium-thickness, the characters could be use pretty flexibly for both headlines and body copy type. I have made a few changes on some of the letters proportion and shapes such as the 'B', 'E', 'D', 'G', 'm', 'z', 'y', and 'w'.

Typography-Personal Font (Draft 3: Revising the Proportion)

I got a feedback to create a more proper proportion on my upper case alphabets, since in my second draft some of the characters are not balanced. And for the miniscule, I needed to widen the letter 'm' and 'w' in order to be balance with the other characters. Given those mistakes, I was suggested to look up at the proportion of the Roman letters and adapt its measurement to mine. And so I did, and it look better. I realized that even though we used a particular shape, it doesn't mean that all the width/length of the characters has to be exactly the same with it; we can modify and developed in order to make all the letters looks more harmonious.

Typography-Personal Font (Draft 2:Upper Case)

These are the upper case characters and a few of the punctuation/symbols for my personal fonts, created based on a circle shape.

Typography-Personal Font (Draft 2: Miniscule)

This the image of the miniscule characters that I created using a round shape. I think that this looks better than my first draft, because the letters look like its in a better proportion.

These are the images of all 26 miniscule / lower case characters when it was finish.
